THE LISTENING ROOM

A Creative Direction Exploration for Apple Music

Music is often consumed while multitasking.

Streaming has made music more accessible than ever, but has also made intentional listening increasingly rare.

This exploration imagines how Apple Music could create immersive environments that encourage people to experience albums with the same focus and presence they were created with.

Experience System

The Listening Room

A temporary installation designed around one album.

No distractions.

No phones.

Only listening.

Live Conversations

Artists discuss the making of the project after the listening experience.

Digital Companion

Apple Music hosts an interactive version featuring exclusive visuals, essays, and behind-the-scenes content that extend the experience beyond the physical space.

albums are more than collections of songs.

They're worlds.

Yet many listeners experience them one track at a time, interrupted by notifications, playlists, and algorithms.

This concept reintroduces the album as an intentional experience.

Creative Thesis

Listen Like It Matters.

Every great album creates a world.

The Listening Room transforms that world into a physical environment where sound, space, lighting, and visual storytelling work together to deepen the emotional connection between artist and listener.

Rather than promoting an album, the experience invites people to step inside it.

Spatial Design

The architecture changes depending on the featured project.

Every room reflects the emotional tone of the music.

What should people feel?

Presence.

Immersion.

Stillness.

What should they remember?

The emotional experience of listening not just the music itself.
